Resizing Scanned Images
It is perfectly acceptable to make scanned images and photos smaller than their native size so that they fit in a designated area on the page. However, you shouldn’t increase the size of the image. Making an image larger than its native size will cause pixilation - out-of-focus, blurry and jagged.
The only time you would want to make an image larger than its original size would be if you are intentionally trying to achieve the pixilation look.
